The good news is that there are some breeds that are really known for being a very affectionate cat. If you are looking for a cat that is going to show you some love, then you will want to go for the most affectionate cat breeds.
Most Affectionate Cat Breeds
Here are ten of the most affectionate cat breeds. We know we can’t cover them all, but these are just some that made the top of our list.
1. Balinese
The Balinese breed is a really affectionate breed. They are super loving to us humans, but they are also pretty loving with other pets as well. They have a tendency to be able to pick up on your moods, so they know how to act around you and when you need a little extra loving. If you aren’t feeling well, they may come and want to spend more time with you to cheer you up. They are also pretty vocal, and love to ‘talk’ to you.
2. Cornish Rex
The Cornish Rex has extremely short hair, but their fur is almost curly in appearance. They are very curious cats, but they are also laid back and loving. They love to play, and they love to build a bond with their family. They tend to be a little overbearing with their love at times and may try to bother you when you are trying to do things around your home. The good news, however, is that they do make up for it with all of the love they give.
3. Oriental
Oriental cats definitely have a very unique look. They have long shaped faces, with very large ears. You can spot them from a mile away. They are also really loving, but they do demand a lot of your time. If they trust you, then they will bunt you, nuzzle you, and spend a lot of time purring like a little motor boat. They do get pretty irate though if you leave them for a long period of time. While they are loyal, they can get mad at you and ignore you if they are frustrated with you.
4. Maine Coon
The Maine Coon has almost a dog type personality. They are usually really large, but they tend to stick by your side and show their love in unique ways. They are really gentle, despite their size. They are also usually really playful, and great around children and other animals.
5. Siamese
Siamese are really known for their cuteness level, but on top of being cute they are super loving. They tend to follow you around like a little lost puppy. They also love to cuddle and sleep in the bed with you.
They are loyal, but they are also pretty demanding when it comes to getting attention. They will give you their full attention, and they expect the same from you. They have a tendency to be pretty spoiled.
6. Sphynx
While the Sphynx cat may not look to be very appealing, without having any fur, they are really very affectionate. They are really outgoing, and they love to cuddle with their owners. If you want a cat that is going to love snuggling up to you, then this may be a great breed to go with. As an added plus, they are also hypoallergenic, so they do not really affect people who have allergies to cats. They are also pretty vocal, and really enjoy spending time with you and playing.
7. Tonkinese
Tonkinese is another great affectionate breed to consider. They were derived from a mix of Siamese and Burmese cats. They are very outgoing, and love to be friendly with just about anyone. They will usually never meet a stranger. They do tend to show the most of their love to the people that they trust the most, who they are around the most. They are usually pretty happy, and it doesn’t take too much to keep them satisfied and content.
8. Bombay
Another affectionate short hair breed is the Bombay cat. This breed is not really as well-known as some of the other breeds. They do, however, show their love all of the time. They also make some pretty unique sounds, and it sometimes sounds like they are talking to you. If you want a cat that is going to give you a lot of cuddles, then a Bombay cat may be just what you have been looking for.
9. Scottish Fold
Scottish Folds are also pretty affectionate, but they are super cute on top of it. They look like their ears actually fold to the front, and they have the sweetest little personalities. They are really friendly, not only with people, but also with other pets. They really enjoy a laid-back lifestyle though and won’t be in your way too much when you need to focus. They will, however, let you know they love you with some love and affection when you seem like it would be welcomed.
10. Egyptian Mau
Finally, we have the Egyptian Mau. This breed is one of the oldest breeds, and they have a spotted coat. They also really love spending time with their humans. They even love to ‘laugh’. No joke, their playful sounds sometimes sound like they are laughing. It can be super cute.
